WAX (Westminster After-school eXplorers)

 Our congregation is commmitted to making a positive and visible impact in the local community, and to give parents another resource to help their children succeed in school. Since 2001 we have provided one such resource, through our WAX program.
Westminster After-school eXplorers is an after-school enrichment program for students of Lyon Elementary School. This program is held on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 to 5:00 PM throughout the school year, for students in grades 2-5.
A cadre of volunteers of all ages, led by Director Tanya Hendrix and Assistant Director Michael Baugh, provide homework support, art and science projects, and outdoor activities, as well as snacks for the children.
Volunteer positions are available for high school and college students, parents, or other adults who wish to serve the community and gain valuable work experience. All volunteers will undergo a background check through the Washington State Patrol.
